Event description

The Tauranga Innovative Education Summit returns for 2025!

Proudly brought to you by Mount Maunganui College in collaboration with the University of Waikato and Priority One Tauranga Moana
  • Combination of Keynotes from experts and Bite Size workshops
  • Led by locals like you - learn from peers and academics
  • Network with other teachers from in and around Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty
  • Morning tea and lunch included (along with a coffee from 101 Cafe Experiment after you have signed in!)

Following on the success of last years inaugural event, our theme this year is "Engaging and Extending through Ai". Our goal is that you leave us on Friday, ready to give something a go on Monday. This Professional Development day has something for everyone - classroom teachers of all levels; principals nominees; school leadership; and those who are terrified of Ai, right up to those who use it daily in their practice.

Some of the experts joining to facilitate the day:

  • Associate Professor Kathryn MacCallum - Digital Education Futures within the School of Educational Studies and Leadership at the University of Canterbury (UC) headlines this year, presenting her Scaffolded AI Literacy (SAIL) Framework for Education.
  • Associate Professor Dianne Forbes - Te Kura Toi Tangata School of Education at the Unversity of Waikato
  • Associate Professor Te Taka Keegan - Department of Software Engineering and Co-Director of the AI Institute Maori at the University of Waikato
  • Jonathan Adams - Education Technology Advisor at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology
  • Kate Rhodes - Te Kura Toi Tangata School of Education at the Unversity of Waikato

Work with fellow local teachers to enhance your understanding of the what, why, and how of Ai in our schools. Workshops are run by academic experts and Tauranga based teachers (Primary/Intermediate/College) with real life examples allowing you to curate the day around what you need.

Workshop focus includes: Ai Policy development in the education space, Mātauranga Māori and AI, and what this means for teachers, Literacy, Science, Numeracy, General Ai use and more. from the University of Waikato will again be joining to facilitate a Primary teachers centred workshop.

Please BYOD your device for the day **********Final workshop schedule to be announced (but you know it's going to be good!)**********

Financial support to make this day affordable is thanks to Principal Sponsor PB Tech and catering sponsor iTed Services
