Event description

As part of its Annual General Meeting, Tax Justice Aotearoa (TJA) is hosting Chye-Ching Huang, the Executive Director of the Tax Law Centre at New York University.

Chye-Ching will give an overview of current debates about tax justice in the United States of America, including proposals that have emerged since the election of President Joe Biden, and relate these to New Zealand.

The Annual General Meeting will follow after Chye-Ching's talk and participants are welcome to stay if interested to know about TJA's activities in the past year.


Chye-Ching Huang's bio

Chye-Ching is a prominent voice on economic policy and tax in the United States, and has worked as a tax policy expert, academic, and lawyer in New Zealand and the USA. After studying at the University of Auckland and working for a New Zealand law firm, she was a tax law academic at the University of Auckland. She holds a Master's in Law from Columbia Law School, was Senior Director of Economic Policy at Washington DC-based thinktank the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, and is now the head of Tax Law Center at NYU Law.
