About the Award

The TaxFighter Award is given out by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) to recognize Canadians who have made an outstanding contribution to the cause of taxpayer emancipation. This award has been given to lawmakers, media personalities, academics and average citizens who have stood out and stood up in fighting for limited and accountable government.

About the Recipient

Bill Robson is one of Canada’s leading voices for sound public finances, limited government and government accountability. He served as President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute from 2006 to 2026 and is now the Institute’s first President Emeritus, a Fellow-in-Residence and holder of the William Robson Chair in Public Sector Governance and Accountability.

Over his career, Robson has written more than 280 publications examining government budgets, taxes, pensions, health-care financing, inflation and monetary policy. His research has helped expose the long-term costs of government decisions, push for greater fiscal transparency and hold governments accountable for how they manage taxpayers’ money.

Robson has advised federal and provincial agencies, taught public finance and public policy at the University of Toronto, and is a frequent newspaper columnist and media commentator. For decades, his research and advocacy have given Canadians a clearer picture of what governments spend, what they owe and who ultimately pays the bill.

About the Tickets

General tickets are available to CTF supporters and the general public. If you are a member of the CTF's Taxpayers Caucus, you have a code for complimentary admission for you and one guest. If you do not have the code, please e-mail mharvie@taxpayer.com.
