A Culture of Innovation for the Disability Sector: A Tasmanian Case Study

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

One of the underestimated populations in Australia around innovation and entrepreneurship is those who live with disabilities, and Tasmania has the highest rate of disability in Australia at 26% of the population (Australian Bureau of Statistics Survey of Disability, Ageing and Carers 2015).

However innovation allows for new approaches and businesses to begin, where people with disabilities are not requiring employers to modify environments for them, instead they develop their own job based on their strengths, passions and abilities. The Tasmanian Disability Innovator Hub has become the result of this, which is delivering programs across Tasmania in collaboration with industry leading organisations St Giles Society and illuminate Future and has been supported by the Tasmanian Community Fund.

Join us as we introduce the situation in Tasmania and talk about the opportunities that entrepreneurship will bring to our community.
