    Event description

    Kia ora SVAers!

We have an exciting opportunity to join Te Aka Kākāriki - Greenway Canterbury Trust in a whole day planting event!

On Sunday the 6th of October we will venture out into the Canterbury plains to plant out two sites in the Springfield area. Te Aka Kākāriki's mission is to create a ‘greenway’ – a corridor of native biodiversity between the Waimakiriri and Rakaia rivers, linking the mountains to the sea, Te Waihora Lake Ellesmere and Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula. These plantings are spread across the region increasing biodiversity and variety of habitat available for indigenous wildlife. The Student Volunteer Army has planted with Te Aka Kākāriki many times in the past, helping to build these green corridors across the region. It's an awesome project to be apart of and an opportunity to see what our incredible environment is capable of!

The planting will run from 10am to 4pm with morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea breaks throughout the day. All food will be provided by Te Aka Kākāriki with all dietaries catered for. Transport and all necessary gear will also be provided. Please meet outside Haere-roa at 8:50am on Sunday the 6th. We will departing at 9am reaching the destination around 10am. We will return to Haere-Roa by 5pm.

As this is a large day event and you will be catered for, PLEASE ENSURE YOU DO INTEND TO COME IF YOU CLAIM A TICKET. Ticket sales will close on Thursday the 26th of September to ensure everyone can be catered for.

Look forward to see you all!
