How teams and registration work
Te Haerenga Nui is a team event. You’ll explore the route and complete challenges together. Bring your own team or register on your own and we’ll place you in one.
Bringing a team?
You need at least 3 people. Teams can include any mix of ages.
There is no maximum team size, but only 50 people can take part across the whole event.
Choose a team name. Each team member should enter that same name when registering.
Need a team?
Select “No, place me in a team” when you register. We’ll find you a team to join.
Register every person
Every adult and child taking part needs their own registration. One registration does not cover a whole team or whānau. You can complete registrations for your children, but each child must be registered separately.
Bringing children?
A parent or legal guardian must give permission for children under 16 to take part. Children must have an adult who stays with them and looks after them for the whole event. Being placed in a team does not provide adult supervision.
Health, Safety, Privacy & Consent
Health, safety and wellbeing of everyone participating in our kaupapa is important to us.
Health & Safety: Follow kaimahi instructions, use equipment safely and report any hazards, injuries or concerns. Take care around traffic, uneven ground and changing beach conditions. Wear suitable footwear and clothing, and bring water and sun protection. Safety comes before competition.
Physical Activity Risks: Outdoor activities and team challenges carry risks. Participate within your abilities, privately advise kaimahi of relevant health conditions or injuries, and pause or stop if you feel unwell or unsafe.
Tamariki & Whānau: Tamariki must be supervised by a parent, caregiver or responsible adult throughout the event. Teams should stay together, look out for one another and respect the pou, whenua and community spaces along the route.
Privacy: Te Rarawa Anga Mua collects personal information to manage registrations, communicate event information and support safe participation. Information is managed in accordance with our organisational privacy processes and applicable privacy legislation.
Consent: Registration includes acknowledging health and safety requirements and providing relevant information for safe participation. Photo and video consent is optional and does not affect eligibility to participate.
