Te Kohuroa Rewilding - Ranger Meet & Greet
Description
CREATE CONNECTIONS AND BECOME FIELD-READY
About the event
Ready to get involved in the long-term restoration of Te Kohuroa Matheson Bay?
Join TKRI's Rewilding Rangers on Thursday 5th November for a fun, social evening at Leigh Hall. Attendance at this introductory event is required for all new and returning Rangers who want to take part in this year's Ranger activities. Meet the project team, get a sneak preview of this year's rewilding plan, and discover meaningful ways to contribute to the long-term restoration of Te Kohuroa Matheson Bay.
This event will help you prepare for the season ahead, with essential health and safety training, practical guidance for Ranger activities in the field, and information on how to represent the project with confidence. You'll also hear from a special guest speaker, learn about upcoming activities, and connect with others who are passionate about restoring the local environment, while enjoying some refreshments.
As part of the Ranger program, you will have the chance to access additional training, participate in rewilding action groups, and get involved with ongoing restoration activities, both on land and in the ocean. You'll also develop valuable knowledge and skills to support your own conservation journey.
Examples of some of the rewilding activities include:
Marine monitoring and fish counts
Water quality testing
Youth and whānau (family) engagement
Freshwater catchment biodiversity surveys (fish and bats)
Beach crew, kina composters, and kayak support team
Whether you are a student, a local family, a gardener, or a swimmer or diver who has something to contribute, please come along to explore these ideas and put your questions to the Te Kohuroa Rewilding team.
If you have not already signed up for the Rewilding Ranger program, please fill out the Volunteer Form before securing your ticket.
