Event description

Realising the value of diversity and inclusion requires us to self-reflect, engage in critical inquiry, and explore unconscious biases. We can foster equity by promoting inclusive teaching practices and building positive relationships with mentees and Pia to ensure all ākonga are affirmed in their identities and abilities. In this webinar we will explore strategies for working with your mentees or Pia to support critical reflection, encourage inclusive pedagogy, and design for learner variability.

This webinar complements the learning module “Understanding Diverse Learners” and guidance materials available when logged in to training.education.govt.nz.

Intentional practices grow our capacity to manage challenging situations and conversations. In this webinar we will explore effective strategies for establishing and re-establishing relational trust, anticipating and working through issues, prioritising safety, and restoring the mentoring relationship after challenging situations occur.

This webinar complements the “Being an effective mentor” learning module and guidance materials available when logged in to training.education.govt.nz.

In this webinar we will explore strategies mentors can use to support your mentees to “Demonstrate commitment to tangata whenuatanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership in Aotearoa New Zealand” as laid out in Our Code, Our Standards: Ngā Tikanga Matatika, Ngā Paerewa.
