Tending the Story: From Witness to Weaver
What are the stories quietly shaping the world you're trying to build?
Not the ones in your strategy documents or annual reports. The ones running underneath, in how you talk about your mahi at the end of a long day, in what you believe is actually possible, in who you think deserves to be heard.
In this Te Puna Ako session, Kai J. Lee, visual storyteller, facilitator, and host of the Wilderness Within Podcast, explores the thread connecting our inner narratives to the communities and systems we are part of. Drawing on documentary work, men's inner work with fellow tāne, and the slow wisdom of campfire kōrero, he traces a path from passive observer to active participant in the stories we are collectively telling.
This is not simply a session to listen to. Something new can begin here.
Come as you are. Bring the questions you may not have said out loud yet.

Kai J. Lee is a Hong Kong-born, California-raised visual storyteller and community facilitator rooted in Ōtautahi Christchurch. Through Subtledream Productions and the Wilderness Within Podcast, he has spent a decade working alongside purpose-driven communities, learning across many cultures and landscapes to hold story as both craft and ceremony. A practitioner of men's inner work and circle-holding, Kai has moved from behind the documentary lens into the room itself, curious about what becomes possible when people feel genuinely witnessed. He arrives at this conversation as a fellow practitioner, shaped by the same questions this room is sitting with.
