Description

Tea & Tones 4

Steep in the Sounds

A slow Sunday Tea Ceremony and live music immersion in Nature.
An invitation to slow down and come back to centre… together.

This intimate experience brings together a Zen‑inspired tea ceremony served by Jax Wechsler, alongside live improvised soundscapes by Scott Gillespie.

We will gather amongst the trees, birdsong and flowers, beside a beautiful, serene pond, to listen and receive tea in silence. As bowl after bowl is shared, Scott’s live soundscape will weave with the natural soundscape of the land—an offering of spaciousness, presence and gentle connection.

No previous experience of tea ceremony, meditation or sound immersion is needed.
You are welcome exactly as you are.

What you’ll experience

A space to soften the edges of the week.
To listen more deeply.
To be, rather than do.

You’ll be guided through:

  • A meditative tea ceremony with delicious Puerh tea served in exquisite ceramic ware

  • Live, layered instrumental soundscapes that invite spaciousness and rest

  • Moments of gentle reflection and shared silence

  • Casual sharing or light conversation at the close (sharing completely optional)

This is a sensory gathering of presence, connection and sensory nourishment.

Come to sip, listen, and steep in the sounds. You are most welcome.

Who it’s for

This gathering is for you if you:

  • Are drawn to a gentle, contemplative journey with tea and beautiful live soundscapes

  • Love tea, music, and quiet, contemplative spaces

  • Want to share a meaningful Sunday with a friend, partner, or family member

No prior experience with meditation or tea ceremony is needed. Simply bring yourself.

Testimonials

“A beautifully curated and meditative experience to delight all the senses. I walked away feeling peaceful and alive.”

- Marion

"Thank you for the beautiful ceremony. I went on a journey which illuminated some stuff I needed to see. Then when I got home and fell asleep and had a crazy dream affirming more of what came alive with the tea today. It was a profound experience, such a different frequency to all the altars I’ve been sitting at and learning different things from each one. Keen for your next one."
- Vanessa

“A delightful way to enter into the nourishment of being quiet and still. Gently sipping tea and noticing how the flavour evolves round after round. Scott played instrumental tones which created a natural ambience supportive for an introspective journey. I enjoyed hanging out in a small group without actually talking. Getting to know each other just be sitting together in shared silence. A beautiful experience to unwind, settle within yourself. Have a moment to truly be with yourself supported by the tea and tones. Do treat yourself to this wonderful experience.”
- Nicolas

“Tea ceremony with Jax and Scott was a relaxing experience. An intimate and welcoming setting where rounds of tea was offered by Jax while Scott played improvised music. Jax also educated us on the etiquette, so no need to worry if this is your first. Together they transported me to this tranquil little space, where I can be present and really slow down.”

- Mira

FAQs

  • What is a tea ceremony?

We share tea in the spirit of Cha Dao, the “Way of Tea”, an Asian tradition that treats preparing and drinking tea as a simple path of presence and connection. We sit together in quiet, unhurried ceremony, letting the warmth of the bowl, the rhythm of pouring, and the taste of the tea help the body settle and help us arrive together. The invitation is to experience tea as a kind of gentle medicine for the day, a way to feel present, connected to nature, and connected to ourselves.

  • Do I need to know anything about tea?

Not at all. You do not need any previous tea knowledge or ceremony experience. Simply come with curiosity and a willingness to slow down.

  • What kind of tea will we drink?

We share carefully chosen, high-quality loose-leaf tea, traditionally prepared in a side handled teapot in small tea bowls. The tea varies with the season, weather and intention of the gathering. All tea contains some caffeine unless otherwise stated. We serve lighter teas such as Oolong tea in the afternoon.

  • Will there be caffeine?

Usually, yes. Tea naturally contains caffeine, though its effects can feel different from coffee and vary from person to person. Please let us know in advance if you are highly caffeine-sensitive, and we can discuss whether the ceremony is right for you. Caffeine from this type of tea is a lot more gentle than caffeine from coffee.

  • How long does it last?

The ceremony lasts approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. Please arrive a few minutes early so we can begin together.

  • How many people attend?

Gatherings are intentionally small to maintain intimacy and care. Places are limited, so booking ahead is essential.

  • Can I bring children or pets?

These gatherings are designed as quiet adult spaces. We cannot accommodate pets.

  • What do I wear? What will we sit on?

We will be seated on some meditation cushions on a wooden deck. So where comfortable clothes. If you require a different type of seating, let us know. You are also welcome to bring your own cushions, back jacks or low chairs.
