Returning to Adelaide exclusively at David Roche Gallery, Salon des Refusés features over 50 remarkable works of art and landscape paintings.
Known as the popular alternative to the esteemed Archibald and Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Salon des Refusés features work not selected for the official exhibition but rather those recognised for their quality, diversity and experimentation, offering insight into contemporary art practices, different approaches to portraiture and responses to the Australia landscape.

About Tsering Hannaford
Tsering Hannaford is a realist painter based in Adelaide with a focus on still life and portraiture. In 2012, Tsering and her father Robert Hannaford were the first father and daughter to show concurrently in the Salon des Refusés, and in 2015 they were the first father and daughter selected as finalists for the Archibald Prize. A twelve-time Archibald Prize finalist, Tsering’s work was highly commended in both the 2020 Archibald Prize and the 2014 Portia Geach Memorial Award. Her work is held in significant public and private collections, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the National Portrait Gallery.
About Dr Guy Rees
Dr Guy Rees is a leading Surgical Oncologist for Head and Neck Cancer in Adelaide. He was Robert Hannaford’s oncologist and features in Robert’s portrait in the Salon des Refusés 2026. Of the portrait, Robert says ‘I painted this portrait in homage to the man. Not only for his skill on the operating table but particularly for the port-operative care he has bestowed upon me over the years.’
