Event description

Join our free Science Stage 4&5 workshop to support the implementation of the new New South Wales Syllabus in 2026 and help you prepare students for success in senior years by building science inquiry skills.  

Hosted by expert teacher and author Melinda Mestre and Oxford’s local Education Consultants, this workshop will include:  

  • an overview of key changes to the content of the new syllabus – what’s in, what’s out, what’s moved 
  • practical tips, advice, and a selection of ready-to-use resources that will help you save time and implement the new syllabus with confidence 
  • a sneak peek at our brand-new Science Stage 4&5 resources coming for 2026, which are fully updated to align to syllabus objectives and incorporate key learning design principles, with an explicit focus on the acquisition of science skills 
  • a demonstration of the new features and functionality on the all-new Oxford Digital, including comprehensive support such as expertly crafted lesson plans, TLAPs, market-leading assessment, tracking, and reporting tools and our new live-lesson mode, allowing real-time, accessible digital lesson delivery with students  

Each attendee will receive: 

• a FREE copy of Oxford Science New South Wales Curriculum third edition Stage 4 Student Book (available upon publication)

Meet the presenter

Melinda Mestre

Melinda Mestre

Melinda is currently the Head of Science in the independent schools sector. She is also employed by the International Baccalaureate Organisation, NESA and Macquarie University as a unit convenor and sessional academic, teaching units relating to secondary education. Melinda is the co-author of the "Oxford Insight Science" and "Oxford Science" textbooks and she sits on the Science Professional Learning Advisory Committee with the AIS, presenting at various Science workshops throughout the last several years. Melinda is a passionate educator who is driven by supporting teachers in their understanding of the student academic growth and teacher development.

Melinda will be presenting at all three workshops.
