Following feedback from our last Gippsland TEN, this Term 4 meeting is all about waste, specifically, the composting and worm farm systems that teachers told us they wanted to explore further. Whether you're just getting started with waste reduction at your school or you're already running a thriving compost system, this morning has something for everyone.

What to expect
Dr Alex Jaimes-Castillo - Waste Recovery Officer, Latrobe City Council
Alex is an Environmental and Natural Resources Engineer and scientist with expertise in waste management, environmental microbiology, and the microbiology of composting systems. Alex will lead a practical workshop on composting and worm farming, explaining how these systems work and how they can be optimised to produce high-quality compost and worm castings. Participants will come away with practical knowledge and tips for managing these systems effectively in a school setting.
Marnie Ellis - Regional Landcare Coordinator, West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority (WGCMA)
Marnie will introduce the inaugural West Gippsland BioBlitz, coming up in October, and share the many ways that schools can partner with Landcare to educate students and improve natural resource management across Gippsland.
Michaela Davies - STEM Teacher, St. Angela of the Cross Primary School
Michaela will share how St. Angela of the Cross has woven sustainability into its school culture, including their waste reduction activities and the way students learn about, make and use compost and worm farms in their vegetable gardens. Michaela will also lead a tour of the school's sustainability features.
Simone Taylor - ResourceSmart Schools Facilitator, DEECA
Simone will present the worm farm and composting resources available through the ResourceSmart Schools program, and how teachers can use them to bring waste education to life in their classrooms.
