Yaluk Langa: Cultural Practice, History and Ecology

Heide Museum of Modern Art is proud to present a special Teacher Professional Learning afternoon featuring First Nations educator and Wurundjeri Elder Uncle Bill Nicholson Jnr.

Uncle Bill will share the accurate history of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, the traditional owners of the land on which Heide stands and insights into their vibrant continuing culture and traditions. Discover meaningful ways to integrate authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and knowledge systems into your classroom.

This unique professional learning opportunity also offers a rare chance to hear Uncle Bill's stories surrounding the cultural significance behind recent tree scarring and decorative shield projects at Heide. You will learn about the newly established ceremonial gathering and learning space within Heide's beautiful Yaluk Langa Indigenous garden.
