Event description

Teaching for democracy using dialogic pedagogy

Looking for a pedagogy that empowers students to think for themselves and develop foundational democratic understandings but avoids problematic claims of pushing a political agenda or indoctrination?

In this session, the Community of Philosophical Inquiry approach to teaching democratic values will be introduced as a pedagogical practice that aims to foster caring, collaborative, creative and critical thinking through student engagement in classroom discussions.

Facilitator:

Dr Tace Vigilante is a senior lecturer and program director in Education in the Faculty of Arts and Education at Charles Sturt. Tace is interested in the role of education in promoting individual wellbeing and flourishing communities.
