Event description
The ARC Research Hub for Connected Sensors for Health and Tyree Foundation Institute of Health Engineering share a common vision for developing and translating health technologies that deliver improved health outcomes and societal impact. With this shared vision, we are proud to present this Technology Translation Forum & Hub highlights that bring together our diverse community consisting of researchers, clinicians, and industry partners to discuss key translational topics and learn about the breadth of work we support.
The event will include a Technology Translation Forum and the Hub’s research project progress. The Translation Forum will feature a pair of esteemed speakers who will share their thoughts on important translational topics facing researchers and their industry collaborators and will be followed by a panel discussion on intellectual property. The showcase session will involve updated presentations from each of the hub themes, followed by a network session.

Session 1: Technology Translation Forum –Translation: The Balancing Act (1:30 PM)
- Paper or patent – are they mutually exclusive? What is the trade-off, really?
- Spinning out or Licensing out – deciding on how to bring your inventions to market
- Moderated panel session discussion:
• What is IP really used for and how does it create competitive advantage for companies?
• Where do we get stuck with commercialising IP and how can we do it better?
• How do we ensure equitable sharing for multi-party collaborative research
Session 2: Technology Translation Forum – Highlights (3:00 PM)
- Hub research project progress: Up to 5 Hub participants to give highlights + IHealthE translation support overview.
Networking session with poster presentation (4:00 PM)
