Tech Central for Newbies, by Diploma in Innovation at UTS
Event description
In July 2021, we sent 60 UTS students in a core subject from the Diploma in Innovation at TD School around Tech Central to get the scoop on what it is, what its vision is, and how people can contribute to that vision. This is a showcase of their findings and provocations.
Teams did desktop research and interviewed key stakeholders about Tech Central, and often focussed on a new interpretation of 'tech' or 'startup'. Their findings make it clear that Tech Central will affect organisations across multiple sectors, including science-based ventures, software startups, fintechs, design firms, film & media, professional services, and transport; just to name a few. While startups will benefit from the interaction between Sydney Startup Hub and the proposed Scaleup Hub at Tech Central, the development should be inclusive of SMEs and MNCs. In fact, the diversity of sectors, stages, founders, or even gender is something that needs to be considered for a holistic ecosystem approach.
Learn about their findings, as well as about the process by which they mapped the ecosystem. This mapping exercise can benefit Councils, communities and inside larger organisations. Coursework versions of these methods are available to undergraduates via the Diploma in Innovation and postgraduates via the Masters in Creative Intelligence and Strategic Innovation.
