Event description

Techne Independent Artist is a Glasgow-based consultancy founded by artists for artists in 2025 to support independent creatives, grassroots practitioners, and small cultural organisations. We exist because brilliant artists have been pushed to the edges whilst the tools that could transform creative practices remain locked away in corporate boardrooms.

Scotland has never had anything like Techne before. We're quietly reclaiming that knowledge and bringing it home to artists. The strategic foundations that help businesses thrive aren't mysterious corporate secrets - they belong with creatives who understand what truly matters. Through one-to-one sessions, workshops, and resources, Techne helps artists access the tools they've always deserved.

This is about ending the isolation and discovering what becomes possible when artists have proper foundations instead of being expected to figure everything out alone.

Building Creative Sustainability: Fundraising for Artists (Tues 7 Oct, evening) The endless cycle of grant applications and rejections keeps you waiting for permission whilst others hold the keys to your creative future. This workshop changes that dynamic entirely. You'll discover that building genuine support for your work through practical, grassroots methods puts the power back where it belongs - with you and your community.

We'll cover the approaches that shift you from asking for approval to building your own backing. Individual giving, creative campaigns, events, and authentic connections become natural extensions of your practice. You'll leave understanding that you don't need their permission to create the support your work deserves.

We are running another workshop on the 14th: Building Creative Sustainability: Strategy for Artists
