Topics:
Introduction to the Infrastructure and Environment (I&E) Research Theme at Deakin University by Dr James Gong, Deakin University, Senior Lecturer in Water Engineering. James will briefly introduce the seven research groups within the I&E research theme in the School of Engineering, Deakin University.
Sustainable Construction: Innovation & design in the circular economy by Dr Riyadh Al-Ameri, Deakin University, Senior Lecturer in Structure Engineering. The presentation will showcase Deakin’s successful research stories in the field of sustainable construction materials, in particular, the use of bio-based and recycled materials in concrete.
Waste to Wealth: Upscaling organic wastes for regional prosperity by Dr Nusrat Razzak, Deakin University, Associate Research Fellow. This presentation will discuss the sustainable application of engineered carbon materials biochar and activated carbon, produced from municipal food and garden organic waste as well as from by-products of wastewater treatment.
