Description

Turn your picnic rug into a magic carpet with sensational techno in the sun.

Techno Picnic, Round 2: Sunday November 1. Mid-spring. That magic time in Canberra when the air’s warm, the sunset is unreal and those dancing feet need some practice.

New location. Still Canberra. Still lakeside. Still very close to the city. The exact spot will be sent to ticket holders closer to the event. We've booked multiple venues to work with the weather - this event will be comfortable in wind, rain or glorious sunshine.

Headlining is D-Nox playing a 4-hour set. Born in Germany, now living in Argentina, this legend is a global mainstay of melodic and progressive techno. Do you remember those absolute classics by D-Nox & Beckers? It's that guy. Driving beats, rolling basslines and those emotional builds that sneak up on you. He’s been shaping dance floors worldwide for decades and it's an honour to welcome him back to town. You might have been to that laneway party back in 2019 when D-Nox turned Verity Lane into a big trampoline. This one has a little more decorum.

Waxlily was a resident of Escape Ferocity's warehouse parties. Now flirting with Sydney, she's coming home to sprinkle her sparkly energy and seamless mixing. Lunch has never sounded so good.

Same ethos. International headliner without the eye-watering ticket price. Sunday arvo by the water. And it wraps at 7pm so you can look responsible.

Bring your mates. Bring the family. Bring a picnic blanket and an esky, or just rock up and let the bar and food stalls handle it. Proper cocktails, local wines, delicious food.

FAQs

  • Kids!?

Yes. The party is for everyone who likes good, daytime techno, including parents with little kids.

The lakeside location is wide and open for kids to run around and lots of groups to have comfortable picnics. Use the event to invite like-minded friends with (or without) kids to share an afternoon and have a dance. Kids are the responsibility of their parents or carers at all times, including on the dance floor.

90% of the site is very safe for sensitive little ears. Only the area directly in front of the sound system is a little loud, though not as loud as a rave and short periods of exposure will not be damaging for anyone. Staff will discourage kids from dancing for long durations in front of the sound system, and audio engineers will constantly monitor levels and audiences for a safe experience for all ages.

The general rule for parents worried about kids hearing is simple: 'if it's loud for you, it's too loud for them.' Good practice for children is no more than 2 hours of constant exposure to 80dB(A), which is similar to a hair dryer or an old vacuum cleaner. If kids are coming and going, giving breaks to their ears, and are usually more than 10 meters from a speaker, they'll be very safe. If they're not, a staff member will probably check in with the parent.
