Technology facilitated abuse: evidence session with ANROWS CEO Dr Tessa Boyd-Caine

Please join us for an in-person evidence session designed to strengthen practitioners' understanding of technology-facilitated abuse (TFA) as a form of domestic, family and sexual violence.

Drawing on Australian evidence, the session will explore patterns of victimisation, the experiences of children and young people, community attitudes, and the impacts of emerging technologies. Participants will develop practical, evidence-informed approaches to recognising and responding to TFA, including risk assessment, digital safety planning, and survivor-centred & led support.

Topics to be covered:

• Defining technology-facilitated abuse (TFA) and technology-facilitated coercive control

• Recognising common technology-enabled abuse tactics, and understand how seemingly isolated or low-level incidents can form part of a broader pattern of coercive and controlling behaviour.

• Recognising the ways children and young people experience and are impacted by TFA.

• Understanding key evidence and emerging trends from Australian research and practice, including findings from ANROWS, the National Community Attitudes towards Violence against Women Survey (NCAS), the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS), eSafety Commissioner and WESNET.

• Applying evidence-informed and victim survivor-led approaches to digital safety planning.
