TEDxCanberra 2025 Open Mic Night

The time has come for you to unleash your creativity and pitch your game-changing idea to us!

What are we looking for?

PEOPLE TO PITCH THEIR IDEAS:

This is not a competition, but rather an opportunity to share your vision with the community. Who knows, your idea might even earn a spot on the TEDxCanberra flagship event stage this coming October. Even if you don't make it to our main event, Open Mic Night is a fantastic way to test your idea within a laid-back and enjoyable atmosphere.

The topic of your talk is entirely up to you, but keep in mind that TED's motto is, ideas change everything. Let this guide your creativity and inspire you to delve deep into topics that will leave your audience stimulated, provoked, and inspired to generate thought-provoking discussions.

The time limit is strictly 3 minutes.

How many spots are there?

We have limited spots available for pitching (roughly 15!), so don't wait until the last minute to register your interest.

How will I know if I'll be pitching?

We'll be notifying successful applicants by Tuesday 3 June. Please register by midnight Friday 23 May using this form (you'll be asked to provide us with a few quick sentences about what your idea is).

Can't make it to Open Mic Night but still want to apply to be a speaker at TEDxCanberra? 

No worries, still complete the online form and we'll get back to you.

Timing:

• 6:00pm - Networking + briefing for speakers
• 6:30pm - Session 1 pitches
  
• 7:15pm - Break
• 7:30pm - Session 2 pitches
• 8:15pm - Networking
• 8:45pm - Event concludes
  

There will be food and drinks available for purchase from 5-9pm in the Verity Lane Market food hall downstairs.
