TEDxNewy is more than a stage. It's a room full of curious people who believe that one conversation, one idea, or one unexpected connection can change the direction of a life.
Every event brings together people from different industries, backgrounds, and generations with one thing in common: a genuine curiosity about the world and the people in it. The talks are designed to spark new ways of thinking, but what happens between them is just as important. The conversations over coffee, the introductions to strangers, the debates that continue long after the event ends, and the friendships and collaborations that grow from a shared experience.
You'll leave with fresh ideas, but also with new perspectives, meaningful connections, and a renewed sense of possibility. TEDxNewy is a place where ambitious people gather not to network for the sake of networking, but to learn from one another, challenge their thinking, and become part of a community that values curiosity, generosity, and action.

Event commencement, followed by talks + performances.

A short break out in the foyer. Grab a coffee, stretch your legs and meet some new people before we head back in.

Following a brief intermission, we will recommence with a second session featuring talks.

Join us for drinks in the foyer afterwards to unpack the afternoon, enjoy a drink, share with others and relish in the TEDx community.

- What can I expect from a TEDxNewy event?
Expect a series of short, thought-provoking talks, plenty of opportunities to meet interesting people, and an atmosphere designed to spark conversation. Many attendees say the discussions between sessions become just as memorable as the talks themselves.
- Is this just a series of talks?
Not at all.
TED stands for technology, entertainment, and design. A talk is not the only way to share ideas within those domains.
At the heart of the experience, TEDxNewy is also about bringing together curious, engaged people. Whether you're attending alone or with friends, you'll find plenty of opportunities to connect with others.
- Who attends TEDxNewy?
Our audience is incredibly diverse. You'll meet founders, students, educators, creatives, researchers, healthcare professionals, community leaders, and lifelong learners. What connects everyone is curiosity and a desire to learn.
- What's included in my ticket?
Your ticket includes access to all sessions, activation spaces, and after party. You will also receive a goody bag on the day.
- Will the talks be recorded?
Talks are professionally recorded with the intention of being published on the TEDx YouTube channel after the event. Not every talk is guaranteed to be released.
- How long are the talks?
TEDx talks are under 18 minutes, with many considerably shorter, creating an engaging and fast-paced experience.
- What should I wear?
Smart casual is a great choice. Come comfortable enough to enjoy the evening while feeling like you're attending something special.
- Is food provided?
Not this year. Our afterparty will include canape's. The timing is designed such that you could enjoy a lunch out in Newcastle prior to arriving, and then go out and enjoy a dinner afterwards.
- Is networking a big focus?
We don't think of it as networking. TEDxNewy brings together people who are genuinely curious. The best connections happen naturally through shared ideas and conversations.
- Will I fit in?
If you're curious, open-minded, and enjoy learning, you'll fit right in. You don't need to be an expert in anything, just willing to engage with new ideas.
