Travel instructions

The main doors to the UC Teece Museum are located on the side of our building which faces the Arts Centre South Quad. Our red sandwich board signs will be out whenever we are open. Private Car: The two best routes are to either approach from Durham St and turn right into Hereford St, or approach from Montreal St and turn left into Hereford St. The venue is at the Hagley Park end of Hereford St.   Public Transport: The nearest bus routes are from the Hereford St near Montreal St stops (52915 and 53205), approximately 220m from the Teece Museum which is serviced by the 8 – Airport to Lyttleton line. Additional bus routes 500m away at the Christchurch Hospital Main stops (14704 and 51824) include: 3 – Airport or Sheffield Cres/Sumner 5 – Rolleston/New Brighton 7 – Halswell/Queenspark 60 – Hillmorton/Southshore 80 – Lincoln/Parklands 81 – Lincoln/City direct 85 – Rolleston/City direct 86 – Darfield/City 91 – Rangiora/City direct 92 – Kaiapoi/City direct For more information on public transportation see the Metro Info website.

Entry instructions

The main entrance is via the South Quad first you will climb a small slight of stone steps with a railing on both sides. This will take you to the Level 1 foyer and reception. A staff member will be stationed to welcome you to the event and will direct you where you need to go for your event. If your event is on the upper levels they will direct you to the location of the lift. The accessibility entrance is via the glass doors at 3 Hereford St. A staff member will be stationed at this entrance to welcome you and let you into the building. If a staff member is not present ring the doorbell placed on the accessibility sign just to the left of the doors, and a staff member will come to assist you. direct you to the lift which depending on the location of your event will either take you directly to Level 1 or to the basement level. On the basement level turn left when exiting the lift to the main lift which will take you to all other floors of the building.

After entry instructions

Level 3 Specific A member of staff will greet you at the entrance and direct you where you need to go. From the South Quad entrance you will either take the stairs all the way up to Level 3 or the Lift which is located to the right of the main entrance. From Hereford Street a member of staff will greet you and direct you to the lift which will take you to the basement level. Once on the basement level turn left when exiting the lift to the main lift which will take you to Level 3. Level 1 Recital Room Specific A member of staff will greet you at the entrance and direct you where you need to go. From the South Quad entrance turn left towards the Recital Room. From the Herford Street entrance a member of staff will direct you to the lift which will take you directly to Level 1. exciting the lift turn right towards the Recital Room. Level 1 Teece Museum Specific A member of staff will greet you at the entrance and direct you where you need to go. From the South Quad entrance turn right towards the museum. From the Herford Street entrance a member of staff will direct you to the lift which will take you directly to Level 1. On exciting the lift turn left towards the museum.

Hazards

Our building is a heritage building so some surfaces can be slippery or uneven. If you require any assistance please ask one of our friendly staff. While all areas of our building are wheelchair accessible, due to the heritage nature of our building the main lift has opening dimensions of 900mm and interior dimensions of 1470mm x 1320mm slightly smaller than industry standard.

Toilet location

Level 1 Specific Accessible toilets can be found on each floor of our building. The toilets are located to the right of the central lift. There are two cubicles one of which is wheelchair accessible. Level 3 Specific Accessible toilets can be found on each floor of our building. The toilets are located to the right of the central lift. There are two cubicles one of which is wheelchair accessible. On Level 3 the accessible toilet can be found on the right hand side opposite the central lift.

Accessible parking

The Arts Centre Hereford Street car park has two disabled carparks located 20m down Hereford Street. Four additional disabled car parks are located along Rolleston Avenue, near Lumiere Cinemas. They are approximately 100m away. Two more carparks can be found in the Arts Centre Market Square carpark, approximately 350m away. People can also be dropped off at the museum. There are four Council-owned carparks at the back entrance of the building, which is our most accessible entrance. If you need to wait to be picked up after your visit the back entrance has a view of the road and Council-owned carparks. This is a small space and not suitable for large numbers of people, so we recommend communicating a pick up time with your driver beforehand wherever possible.

Additional Information

Earplugs can be made available upon request simply ask one of our friendly staff. Visitors are welcome to bring fidget tools for use during the event. Service dogs are welcome at the Teece Museum and our staff can assist with providing water or directing you to suitable place to rest or toilet your guide dog.

Accessable Tickets
