    Event description

This workshop is for high schoolers (ages 13 - 17) who LOVE art-making, inventing, crafts, and bringing their creative ideas to life resourcefully!

At this single-day SCRAP workshop, we will be teaching the Japanese method of paper marbling called suminagashi (墨 流 し or “floating ink”). In the morning, we'll spend time practicing our marbling technique, experimenting with different kinds of inks and papers to make gorgeous, handmade pieces of art. After lunch, we'll use the dried marbled papers as we learn and make examples of a few styles of classic bookbinding, including pamphlet style, saddle stitch style, coptic style, and Japanese stab binding.
