Event description
Our outdoor, all-weather Forest School sessions offer enriching experiences for children in the care of Katrina, a trauma-informed, inclusive practice teacher and ecologist.
This is a supported drop off program (ages 3.5+ can be dropped off without a supervising adult) focused on nature connection, play and exploration. Every session can look completely different, dependent on the interests of the child. Your child will develop essential life skills including creativity, problem-solving, team work, confidence and emotional regulation. Children aged 2-3 can join with an adult caregiver, and siblings under 3 are always welcome to tag along for free with a supervising adult.
While predominately guided by the children's interests, sessions occasionally feature inspiring experts in yoga, occupational therapy, horticulture, flora, fauna, and more.
Forest School is open to kinder, primary school and home schooled children.
TRIAL SESSIONS can be arranged, simply select "Casual Ticket" at booking. If you decide to proceed with the term, you can book a term ticket directly, or get in touch to generate a Term Ticket without the Humanitix booking fees.
TERM PAYMENT is our preferred commitment. Research shows that consistent participation in nature-based programs fosters deeper connections, greater developmental benefits, and stronger community bonds. If you have unique needs and can only commit to fortnightly or half term, please get in touch. We also can offer payment plans on request.
SUPPORT NEEDS To attend without a parent/guardian, children need to be independent, including toileting and the ability to follow direction from facilitators. If your child requires support at School, Kindergarten or other drop off programs, they may need support at Born Wild Community. We will work with you to establish what is needed to promote inclusion for your child.
MULTI AGE GROUPS Our program targets children aged 2–14, with research consistently showing that younger children thrive by observing and learning from older peers, while older children build leadership and empathy skills. This approach fosters a rich, inclusive setting that supports a wide range of developmental needs.
NOT FOR PROFIT Born Wild Community is a not for profit incorporation, meaning all payments we receive are put back into improving our programs. We are required to meet minimum numbers and self support our programs. In the event a program does not meet minimum numbers, transfer to alternate days, or a full refund of the registration fee will be offered.
If you are NOT SURE if Born Wild Community is right for your young person, please contact us and we can provide additional information and options info@bornwildcommunity.org.au Please note the program does not have administration each day.
Unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds if you cannot attend, however get in touch and we can offer a credit to be used in the next 6 months at any of our Born Wild Community sessions.
