TERM 3 Creative Writing Club (8-12 years) @ Stirling Libraries - Karrinyup

Karrinyup Library is continuing their Creative Writing Club in Term 3, 2026. It will run on WEDNESDAY afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

To account for the high level of interest in this club, we are only accepting new members or members who have only participated in 1 term so far. If existing members book in, you may have your ticket cancelled.

Across the term, each child will plan, develop, and complete their own original picture book—from their very first idea through to a polished final piece.

Each session introduces fun and practical writing skills in clear, easy-to-follow ways. Participants explore characters, settings, plot building, and dialogue through games, prompts, and short activities, then apply what they’ve learnt directly to their personal story. Step by step, they’ll build confidence as their ideas grow into a complete tale they can proudly call their own.

The club encourages creativity, independence, and self-expression, while still providing a supportive environment where children can share ideas, give feedback, and be inspired by others.

Each week the children will be building upon their skills and constructing their stories, so it is important that they consistently attend the sessions.

If you miss TWO sessions in a row without notifying the library, your child's spot may be forfeited and given to someone else.

Book only your own children.

Parents must stay within the library for the duration of the session. The facilitator does not have duty of care.

Each week, please bring along:

• An A4 lined notebook

• A lead pencil and eraser or pen (if they have their pen license)

If you forget these materials, there will be some paper, pencils and erasers on standby, but it is preferable that the children have a notebook so that they can build a portfolio of writing that they can go back to and edit later.
