Description

🎨🌙 After School Art Program

Our Term will run for 8 weeks from the 22nd of October until the 17th of December.

Join us for a creative journey this Term in our new after-school art space designed especially for our K–3 wildlings.

This weekly program invites children to slow down, observe, experiment, and express themselves through a rich variety of artistic experiences inspired by both contemporary artists and Australian art history. Through process-based learning, children will be encouraged to explore ideas, take creative risks, and develop confidence in their own unique artistic voice.

Throughout the term, children may explore a range of mediums and concepts, including:

• Mixed media abstract collage
• Sculpture and three-dimensional art
• Exploring the papers, textures, tools, and materials found within an artist's studio
• Understanding abstraction through Australian artists and art movements
• Limited-palette moon artworks using black paint, chalk, and paint-splatter techniques to create star-filled night skies ✨

Our sessions are designed to nurture creativity, imagination, critical thinking, and artistic expression in a calm, welcoming, and inspiring environment. Rather than focusing on creating identical artworks, children will be encouraged to experiment, problem-solve, and develop their own creative ideas through hands-on exploration.

📅 Weekly sessions will run on Thursdays from 4:00pm–5:30pm for 8 weeks at Swallow Rock Reserve, Grays Point.

If you have younger wildlings interested in joining, please reach out. We are happy to consider younger siblings depending on the group dynamics and availability.

🌿 Bush Play School – Nature & Creative Arts Program

At Bush Play School, we believe children learn best when they are free to explore, create, imagine, and connect with the world around them. Our unique nature-based program combines outdoor learning with rich creative arts experiences, fostering curiosity, self-expression, and a deep sense of belonging within the natural environment.

Guided by an emergent, inquiry-based curriculum, children are recognised as capable and curious learners whose interests, ideas, and questions shape their educational journey. Rather than following a predetermined path, our facilitators thoughtfully respond to children's evolving interests, creating meaningful experiences that inspire exploration, discovery, and creativity.

We are excited to expand our arts program, providing more children with opportunities to learn through a diverse range of creative experiences. Using natural materials, traditional techniques, and open-ended artistic processes, children will engage in activities such as nature-inspired painting, clay work, weaving, sculpture, land art, movement, and collaborative creative projects. Through these experiences, children are encouraged to communicate ideas, solve problems, experiment with materials, and develop confidence in their own creative voice.

Our learning spaces are intentionally designed to be responsive and dynamic, inviting children to investigate, create, and imagine. Whether constructing shelters, creating ephemeral artworks from found natural materials, exploring colour and texture in the landscape, or expressing stories through visual arts, children are immersed in opportunities for creative thinking and hands-on learning.

Central to our philosophy is a commitment to Caring for Country. Through respectful engagement with the land, children develop a deep appreciation for the environment and the rich cultural knowledge and heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. These experiences nurture environmental stewardship, sustainability, and an understanding of our interconnected relationship with the natural world.
