    Event description

    Draw Plants Together

Plant drawing workshops for everyone, hosted at NECCHi East Coburg Community House

Draw Plants Together encourages connections with plants and with each other. The workshops focus on plants indigenous to the Narrm/Melbourne area and offer a supportive space for learning.

    What can I expect?

    • Fun and relaxed 2-hour creative sessions held at the East Coburg Community House and Garden
    • A feeling of wellbeing – notice plants more in the company of others and gain confidence with drawing

Participants take home a free Indigenous plant from VINC for gardens and balconies each week. Plant drawing sessions also connect with regular gardening and planting activities of the East Coburg Gardening Group.

Draw Plants Together is an inclusive space. Everyone of all ages, backgrounds, sexualities, genders and abilities is welcome.

The workshop increased my confidence to try different techniques in drawing and improved my observation skills

    About me

My name is Craig (he/him). I am an artist who loves plants. I’ve also worked extensively with people in a range of different learning contexts, and have 20 years experience in teaching and workshop facilitation with adults.

In my classes and workshops, my focus is on creating inclusive and enjoyable learning environments where connection, creativity and experimentation can happen.

I have completed studies in art (RMIT and VCA) as well as linguistics (Monash), and have an Advanced Certificate in Relational Gestalt Counselling (Gestalt Therapy Australia).

I work and volunteer at VINC (Victorian Indigenous Nurseries Cooperative) and am passionate about Indigenous plants and local ecologies.

Draw Plants Together acknowledges Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people as the First People of the place where my workshops are run. I acknowledge Wurundjeri as Traditional Custodians and pay my deepest respects to First Nations Elders, people and communities across the continent.
