Terra Soma Yoga
Event description
Terra Soma Yoga, the dreaming earth embodied.
Now I can't tell you exactly what it is going to include. I don’t actually want you to know everything, because part of its richness is the mystery of your own being, and the journey of exploring what comes to meet you when you come into intimate contact with your soft animal body.
I can tell you what it’s not…
It is not an exercise class
or a workout.
It is not about fixing or changing yourself.
This is not the Yoga of making tight glutes and ripped abs.
This is not a class focused on how flexible you can get your hamstrings.
There will be no instructions to push, to force, or to try to get somewhere.
This is the Yoga where there is no advanced versions of the pose, not even any poses, just shapes and invitations. It isn’t about how perfect you can make your Warrior 2 or how loud you can make your Ujjayi breath, it is more about tuning to the subtleties of the quieter qualities and emergent inner support, guiding you into form and movement.
It is an invitation to slip into a more comfortable belonging to your ecological Self.
Enhancing our relationship of reciprocity to our bodies and the wider body of the world around us. Where even the meeting point of ocean and sky can begin to feel like a place that knows you by name.
Terra Soma Yoga gifts us a space to gently awaken our sensitivities and our capacity to be with what we meet. Encouraging us to remember (to re-member) the language of our body and our innate fluency of its lustrous knowings.
It is the dance of letting yourself be moved. Allowing your own guidance to shine through the clouds of shoulds and conditioning.
Terra Soma Yoga is poetry in motion.
It’s practicing stopping the busy pursuit of our world with the beauty of our own being. And I’m not talking about the beauty that is out of 10, and wears sexy pants or perfect hair, I’m talking about the kind of beauty that is so raw and so real and so true in its authenticity that it makes you take a closer look, drink in a deeper breath, that makes you want to linger longer, that which you want to listen to.
The kind of beauty that is so alluring it entices you and enchants you to keep returning.
It is a unique style of practice with 3 main rivers of influence, Hatha Yoga (Kashmir Shivism Tantra), Somatic(s) inquiry and embodied nature / wilderness connection. If it feels safer for you to enter into the mystery with some more information on what you might expect from a class, I invite you to read here about some possible flavours of the class:

If there are any questions prior to we gather or your flowing forth of curiosity, I welcome you to reach out to me.
For now, until we meet, I will leave you in Mary Oliver’s very capable hands…
“You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.”
