Foundations Community Organising Training

A healthy civil society is built on democracy, yet not everyone feels as though they have the chance to impact on decisions that are made that affect them.

That’s why Sydney Alliance invites you to join our introduction to community organising Foundations Training.

The two-day training is designed for folks at all levels of experience in mind, is participatory and insightful. As practical as it is theoretical, participants are taught the tools to start building public relationships and working through how to address issues in their local communities.

The training will be on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 February from 8.45am to 5pm both days.

The venue is likely to be the Centre for Ministry (Uniting Church), 16 Mawson Drive, North Parramatta. This venue will be confirmed in mid-January.

Over two days, participants will explore:

• Community organising based on the history and tradition of our faith, union and community organisations.
• Relational organising tools such as relational meetings, table talks, listening assemblies, research, negotiation and action.
• Strengthening our organisations through building a culture that is relational, action-oriented and reflective.
• Using relational power in the public sphere to take collaborative action on common issues.

This two-day training is perfect for folks wanting to:

• learn or fresh their knowledge about key community organising principles and practices
• better understand how Sydney Alliance works.

The training is interactive, thoughtful and made for people with all levels of experience.

It is an important space to connect with other organisations and to develop skills in community organising.

The event is free to Friends and members of Sydney Alliance partner organisations. 

There is a tiered course fee for non-partner individuals and organisations. Organisations interested in exploring a partnership with the Sydney Alliance are encouraged to participate and to get a feel for the coalition. Reach out if you wish to explore this.
