Textiles Mending Group
Event description
Join us for a Monthly Mending Extravaganza!
Do you have a growing pile of clothes and household items that need a little TLC? Are you tired of seeing them go to waste in landfills when they could be given a new lease on life? Look no further! Mend with others and bring along your mending pile, whether it's a beloved sweater or a cherished household item. Join hands with fellow enthusiasts (no experience necessary) to restore these treasures to their former glory.
Each Month will have a focus on skill building that you can join in with if you choose:
July 13th session will teach a session on Perfect PatchingÂ
August 10th session will teach embroidery stitches for visible mending.
Sustainable Solutions: Together, we're on a mission to keep old clothes and household items in circulation, sparing our planet from unnecessary waste.
Skill Sharing: Each week, our talented facilitator, or even sometimes members, will share one specific mending tip that's not only easy to learn but oh-so-satisfying to master.
Handcrafted Connections: While we'll have sewing machines on hand, we believe that hand sewing fosters a deeper sense of community. It's not only better for group cohesion but often superior for most mending jobs.
Contribute to Art: In addition to individual mending projects, we're embarking on an exciting group endeavour! Picture this: an exquisite hooked rag rug made from offcuts and remnants contributed by all. Your creativity could be woven into this ongoing masterpiece!
Entry: Just bring your mending materials and enthusiasm, basic sewing items will be available too.
Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to mend, connect, and create sustainable art together. Let's turn the old into new, one stitch at a time. Join us at "Mend and Make Magic" and be part of something truly special.
Together, we can mend the world!
