Event Description

Perhaps you're new to town and would you like to meet some more of the local trans and gender diverse community? Or maybe you have some specialist skills and are looking to give back to the community who have given so much to you? Come volunteer with Transgender Victoria!

We're running a series of Volunteer Information Sessions in preparation for Midsumma Victoria's Pride Street Party being held in Fitzroy on Sunday 9 February, but the inductions are also open to all interested in any of our volunteer opportunities such as our EventsPeer Support Programs, or at our amazing gender affirming op shop, Affirmation Station!

Sessions Dates & Times

Wednesday 5th February, 12:00-12:45pm Lunch Time Session - ONLINE via Zoom

Wednesday 5th February, 6-6:45pm After Work Session - ONLINE via Zoom

Can't make these dates? Don't worry, there will be more coming up soon - subscribe to our Humanitix to get notified when they're being held!

    What to expect

    • These sessions are a concise 30-40 minute summary of what it means to volunteer with TGV - the additional time allows time for questions, so if you have to run off early, that will be fine!
    • The sessions will be run on Zoom in English, with slides depicting relevant information.
    • You are not required to actively participate during the session, but you will be welcome to ask questions or answer any questions thrown to the group.
    • The Volunteer Coordinator will hang around at the end of the session to answer any queries you may have.
    • Should you decide that volunteering with TGV is a good fit for you, after attending the session you will be sent a link to officially sign up as a volunteer!
    • From there, further information will be shared around upcoming volunteer opportunities and roles based on the interests you have indicated.

    Who can volunteer?

    • Any trans or gender diverse person, as well as allies of the community.
    • In person events are primarily held in Melbourne, with some also held in regional Victoria. However there are also opportunities to volunteer online, so you are able to volunteer from anywhere across Australia with an internet connection!
    • There are a variety of opportunities to suit all abilities and neurodivergence types.
    • A moderate understanding of English will allow for the best experience as a volunteer.
    • Participants must be 18 years and over.
    • More information can be found here, and detailed information will be provided during and after the session to attendees.

    Please note:
You are only required to attend a single one of these sessions - we offer a variety of times, but please subscribe to our Humanitix alerts if you are interested but unable to make any of the sessions offered and are keen to volunteer.

Please register for a session and a zoom link will be sent to you one day prior to the session. If you do not receive a zoom link or have any questions or concerns, please email volunteer@tgv.org.au
