Challenging sexist narratives of female beauty and conformity.
From an early age women are told to be better, be slimmer, be fitter, be prettier, be younger. Media tells us to look a certain way. Patriarchy tells us to behave a certain way. The fashion industry can often typecast, objectify and sexualise us. Rarely do we see women that represent the way we look, and show the power we have.
It's time to take back our power.
This is an event that gives women a platform to shine. We will showcase all who identify as women. Who have overcome. Who have felt powerless and unworthy. These are women who are survivors of violence, women of colour, older women, younger women, women from the LGBTQIA+ communities, sex workers, neuro diverse and more.
We warmly invite you all to join us in this celebration of their story with our audiences. This event will be held on the ancestral lands of the Wurundjeri people. We recognise their elders, particularly women in indigenous communities who are strong role models and inspiration for us.
This event is a women led initiative. All decision makers, committee and artists are people who identify as women. We are all unpaid volunteers. We do this because we love women. Â
When purchasing a ticket, you will be supporting the work of Full Circle Social Enterprises. All profits will be directed to a leadership academy in India where young people who are displaced, trafficked and living in disadvantaged communities can have access to learnings that create employability pathways.
Ticket cost includes entry and entertainment. Drinks and Food will be available for purchase on the day. We will also have a range of awesome clothing and accessories for sale from stallholders who are in themselves supporting their own respective charities and causes.
Come along and be a part of a movement the celebrates authenticity and recognises the need for a world where we embrace our differences and create doors rather than walls. Â
That this is an event that may contain material of a confronting or distressing nature. This is a necessary part of truth telling but participant discretion is advised.
