As part of this celebration, houseplant will be recording all the sets for youtube so they can be enjoyed again and again !
For this iteration of the 515, we have our very first international headliner ....
Moxie
Moxie is a dance music powerhouse who broadcasts her iconic voice as one of London’s most in-demand DJs and radio hosts, continuing to be a constant fixture of clubs and festivals globally.
Few artists have staked such a lasting claim on their local scene than Alice Moxom under her celebrated Moxie alias. A born and bred Londoner, she has helped to maintain her native city’s grassroots diligence in dance music through the vitality of community radio, events and label A&R.
NTS Radio is Moxie’s weekly home on Wednesdays. For over 12 years now she has maintained one of the longest standing residencies on the internet radio behemoth, remaining one of the station’s integral cornerstones and a cherished fixture of many’s midweek. Her journey to the airwaves started back in 2010 when she covered Sinden’s Kiss FM show, before subsequent slots on The Residency and INDJ’s We Trust on BBC Radio 1 further helped hone her craft. Fast forward to over a decade later, devoted listeners and curious first timers tune into NTS to find her iconic voice accompanying the very best in deep house, Detroit techno and just about anything dubby, groovy and percussive that’s bursting with soul. Moxie often invites guests, using her show to platform artists through guest mixes and interviews. Past features include Jeff Mills, Steve Spacek, DJ Holographic, Four Tet, Or:la & more.
When not hosting radio, Moxie tours globally as one of the circuit's much loved DJs. It's no surprise either; her masterful technique and endless knowledge of dance music’s genres and styles makes her one of London’s best selectors. Her touring schedule is naturally hectic as ever; Panorama Bar, Glastonbury, Rainbow Disco Club, Bassiani, KOKO, Le Sucre, Love International, Houghton, Draaimolen, De School and Sonar BCN have all been graced with her presence while she’s also produced celebrated mixes for Resident Advisor, BBC 1’s Essential Mix, Beats In Space, Truants, FACT, Solid Steel, Triple J and much more.
Further to this is Moxie’s renowned work as a party coordinator, label owner and voiceover artist. Founded in 2016, On Loop is the record label and event series she established as a crucial manifestation for her wider artistic vision. As a label, she has released beloved music from producers across the globe such as Shanti Celeste, Desert Sound Colony, Matisa, Nicola Cruz and Yu Su. Parties wise, she has hosted packed events in most clubbing institutions across Britain and Europe, while in 2023 headlined iconic London venue KOKO along with Soichi Terada, Marcellus Pittman and Niks. Then there is the small matter of Moxie’s celebrated voiceovers, a unique string to her inimitable bow. While her work in this field is vast, it's her commentary for Resident Advisor’s Narrated Shorts film series that is most notable. Here, she chronicled much-loved stories and lore of dance music legends Drexciya, Burial and Jai Paul while also on their ‘What Happened To Tech House?’ mini-documentary.
All of the above illustrates Moxie’s multidisciplinary practice in dance music, best highlighted by her tireless work ethic in her own career, while simultaneously uplifting artists and DJs in her orbit at any chance she gets.
