FINDING FILM: A Screening of The Aggressives with Roisin
Screening and tutorial information
Daniel Peddle's The Aggressives (2005) was shot between 1997 and 2003 – post internet, but pre social media. Now, the documentary circulates queer and trans circles on USBs and Google Drives. The film follows five (trans)masculine lesbians in New York City, and archives a unique moment for self-identification in dyke subcultures with shaky, handheld intimacy. The limited scope of an Australian IP means this film is often hard to access, so how do audiences find the films they need, and when do the films find them? This screening will include an introduction and tutorial by Roisin to share the file, open ourselves up to a more expansive way of seeing each other; and detach from Instagram discourse blackholes and move beyond the content selected for you.
