The Alchemy of Ancient Song Roads
Event description
Jazmourian Ensemble's debut concert in Australia features beautiful and evocative original compositions. The music is created through the powerful connections between ancient Persian musical practice and western early music. Playing traditional Iranian instruments, Malek and Anna express the interconnectedness of their Persian and western musical traditions with instruments that conjure an ancient, natural and dramatic world and bring it into the present.
Malek Mohammadi Nejad (setar, shurangiz) and Anna McDonald (Iranian kamancheh) will play six original compositions that were composed in Iran, Armenia and Australia.
We are generously supported by ArtsACT for this concert.
