Description

The Art of Connection

A practical workshop by The Connection Collective

Explore why making friends as an adult can feel difficult, understand your own barriers and find practical ways to build closer connections and a sense of belonging.

Perhaps you meet people, have good conversations and then… nothing really develops. Maybe your friendships have changed as life has moved on or you’d love a closer circle of people you can truly be yourself with.

Making friends as an adult can take more intention than we expect. Between busy lives, established social circles and uncertainty about taking the first step, it can be hard to know where to begin.

This workshop gives you space to pause, get to know yourself better and explore what helps you connect.

What to expect

Through guided reflection, conversations and practical activities, we’ll explore:

  • Your relationship with yourself: what you value in friendship, what helps you feel comfortable with others and what belonging means to you.

  • What might be holding you back: the fears, assumptions and habits that can make reaching out or letting people in feel difficult.

  • Friendship in adulthood: why it can feel harder to make friends and how to create opportunities for connection.

  • Moving beyond small talk: practising curiosity, listening and sharing in ways that help people get to know each other.

  • Turning connection into friendship: taking the initiative, following up and giving new friendships room to grow.

You’ll have opportunities to meet and connect with other participants while exploring these ideas together.

What you’ll take away

A better understanding of how you relate to others, practical tools to approach connection with more confidence, and achievable next steps for building and nurturing friendships in your everyday life.

Who is it for?

Anyone who wants to make new friends, deepen existing relationships or build a stronger sense of belonging. You might be navigating a life change, expanding your social circle or simply wanting more meaningful connections.

Come on your own or with a friend. You don’t need to be outgoing or have the right words ready. You’re welcome to participate at your own pace and choose what you feel comfortable sharing.
