Sat, 3 Oct, 2pm - 3pm NZDT

Description

In this interactive nose-and ears-on session, multisensory artist and experimental perfumier, Dr Jo Burzynska explores how musical and perfume notes resonate with each other and can be harmoniously combined. Drawing on her research, arts practice and Osmic Resonance Crossmodal Perfumery label, she will share perfume components and sounds to allow participants to discover the synergies between scent and sound for themselves.

About the Artist

Dr Jo Burzynska is an award-winning Ōhinehou Lyttelton-based interdisciplinary artist, writer, and curator who has exhibited locally and internationally. Initially working in sound, her practice has become increasingly multisensory, with olfactory art now central to her practice.

She is actively engaged in research into sensory interactions and their creative application, using a practice she calls crossmodal art detailed in her book The Sensory Terroir of Crossmodal Art (2026).

Jo is currently interested in exploring the different connections and understandings that can be made between people, culture, and place through a focus on embodied and nonvisual sensory knowledge.
