The Art of Intimacy is a 4 week somatic workshop series that invites us to listen better to ourselves, our bodies and each other.

Through developing embodiment and being with reality, we deepen our capacity to connect and engage in intimate relationships.

This is a practical skills based course that requires a willingness to be authentic, vulnerable and playful with a partner or stranger. You will leave with emotional tools to navigate triggering moments, intimate conflict and respond in grounded and empathetic ways.

Description

Intimacy is a sacred art that we all can choose to engage with on a daily basis. It is the practice of opening our hearts, and giving and receiving from a place of honesty and openness. Intimacy is the reward for our courage. In spite of previous pain, and future risks of getting hurt - we choose the possibility of being loved.

For many of us, intimacy is a difficult and confusing subject. Wounding from childhood and our early years taught us that it is better to perform and people please in order to be loved and get the connection that we desperately need. Oftentimes this results in rejecting or suppressing our own emotions and needs in order to bid for love from our original caregivers.

As adults, this damages our ability to have genuine connection and closeness.

This course approaches the emotional skillset of intimacy as an art form. We break it down into key components required for intimacy: embodiment, listening, and conflict resolution. We also dive deep into anger, one of the emotions that is most frequently suppressed in Western culture. Anger turned inwards is depression and loss of life.

This course is an introduction into the fundamental practical skills necessary for deeper relationships and intimate connection.

Workshop Descriptions:

October 1, 2026 - Art of Embodiment

Embodiment ( connection to our body ) is crucial to vitality, safety and wholeness. Learning to be embodied in an era of information overload and overstimulation is key to nervous system regulation, and the foundation for deeper trauma healing. This fundamental courses invites us to explore how to deepen our daily embodiment through movement, vocal practices and introspection. In this class we pair the practice of emotional inquiry, and use tools of yoga, intuitive movement and vocalizing to release tension or blocked emotions.

October 8, 2026 - The Art of Listening

The ability to be present and listen is foundational to any intimacy. This workshops looks at the emotional dynamics in people pleasing, self- abandonment and practical ways to deepening self trust. In this workshop we will do partner and solo exercises practicing heart centered listening. We will also practice asking for help and experiencing rejection, and well as listening to our own needs and discomforts.

October 15, 2026 - The Art of Anger

Anger is one of the emotions that when expressed healthy, shows us how to love ourselves better. However, many of us have experienced abusive, unhealthy and destructive forms of anger as children, creating cycles of harm and fearful associations with anger. This workshop explores our relationship to anger and models tools to express anger in a healthy non-harmful way.

Come prepared to address your fears and feel your anger.

October 22, 2026 - The Art of Conflict

In the era where conflict is abundant and co-opted to create fear, the ability to live freely, radical, as revolutionary begins with our everyday conflict skills. We cannot be activists and conflict avoidant. This workshop is deep dive into how the inability to be in conflict has led to the police and military state as an intermediary for intimate conflict in our personal relationships. We will practice practical skills for addressing the conflicts in our lives with partners.
