Travel instructions

It does require traversing several crosswalks, which are equipped with a pedestrian request button with audio. There is a ramp entrance to the Westin in addition to a driveway and stairs. A variety of other buses including the MAX stop at the corner of Pershing and Grand.

After entry instructions

Check-in for the event will be in room Washington Park Place 2/3. Turn left immediately upon entering the hotel entry and go down the hall!

Hazards

The path between the Westin and our park location is about 0.13 miles (700ft / 200m). It does not require the use of stairs, however, it is situated on a slight decline/incline. The park features brick walkways and our tent is right off one of these which is traversable via an assistive mobility device. However, the bricks of the walkways are uneven or displaced in other places of the park.

Toilet location

There is an accessible restroom in the hotel lobby, straight towards the back. From the front doors head towards the front desk. The hallway with the restrooms is marked by a large wall sconce light. Outdoors there is one accessible portable toilet located nearby our tent.

Accessible parking

The valet parking in front of the Westin or self-service Crown Center parking provides the nearest access to the event location. There is also a self-service parking garage directly in Crown Center (reserved accessible parking is available on floors levels 2A and 3A). Both valet and the garage cost approximately $23 for the full day. View details at parking.com. A few less expensive street-level lots are available north of Crown Center and you can take the free streetcar down Main Street to Union Station, a short walk from the Westin. Street parking is free on Sundays but may be limited near the event location. 2-hour reserved accessible street parking is available near the corner of Grand Boulevard, on the north (park) side of Pershing Road.

Climate control

Our Kansas City event takes place partially indoors at the Westin Kansas City and Crown Center and partially outside in Washington Square Park in an open-wall tent on the grounds of the Kansas City Folk Festival.
