The Art of Monochrome
Event description
Monochrome images are timeless. Learn how to evoke the feelings of past photography masters and harness your creativity by capturing and processing stunning monochrome images.
This two-part workshop will take you on a journey where you will start by learning how to “see” what scenes are especially suited to monochrome. We will start by reviewing different examples of varying contrast, high and low key and textured photographs as an orientation. We will then dive into the technical aspects and learn the visual “zone system” created by Ansel Adams. Armed with this understanding, we will go out in the field together and create a variety of raw images. You will then get a chance to practice these skills on your own for several weeks.
The second part of the workshop will be online and focus on processing (zoom session on June 7 - 10-11 AM). Each participant will have an opportunity to co-process a file of their choosing within a group setting. You will learn how to convert your image into monochrome using Lightroom Classic; how to use tone sliders, curves, presets and exploring your creative side.
