The Assignment (by TheatreiNQ) - Thursday 26/11

Written and directed by Terri Brabon, The Assignment is a TheatreiNQ original created for the company’s next generation of theatre-makers.

It’s 1989 and, while the Berlin Wall may be crumbling on the other side of the world, in sunny North Queensland Jamie Kelly fills her days with Take 40 Australia, Young Talent Time and Dance! But when she is accused of cheating on an assignment, Jamie discovers that sometimes life can get in the way of your dreams.

Funny, nostalgic and full of heart, The Assignment is a coming-of-age comedy about growing up in a small North Queensland town in a very different time.

The Cairns season is supported through JUTE’s DARTS – Driving and Activating the Regional Theatre Sector initiative, helping regional work tour and creating opportunities for artists across Queensland. Five members of the original cast will tour with the production, with additional roles filled by emerging artists from each host region.

We’re delighted to welcome TheatreiNQ and another proudly North Queensland story to the Bulmba-ja stage.
