The Australian Voices - Mountain Chant - Toowoomba
Event description
Mountain Chant presented by The Australian Voices
Join The Australian Voices for a powerful choral journey through landscape, spirit, and time. At the heart of the program is Mountain Chant, Ross Edwards’ vivid and rhythmically charged work inspired by the Warrumbungle mountains and the layered histories they represent. Set to Fred Watson’s evocative text, the piece explores themes of exploration, Indigenous reverence, and spiritual renewal.
The program also features a series of newly commissioned works inspired by the visionary writings of 12th-century mystic Hildegard von Bingen. These short pieces channel Hildegard’s startling imagery of nature, divinity, and transformation through a contemporary lens.
A concert of luminous soundscapes, sacred echoes, and musical storytelling — Mountain Chant invites audiences to listen deeply to the world around and within us.
