Join us to celebrate the publication of poetry collection The Beautiful Boys by Stanley Iyanu with Lalah-Simone Springer hosted by Luke Thomas.
We can't wait to welcome you for a gorgeous spoken word evening in great company.
Stanley Iyanu (he/him) takes the reader on a poetic voyage in search of the beautiful boys four characters and sections: the Libertine, the Outcast, the Villain, and the Joker. Exploring themes of mythology, memory, modern love, and loss, the beautiful boys takes a humorous look at the pitfalls of dating in a city in your 30s to losing friends to suicide to finding love in oneself and in one’s community. the beautiful boys is a love letter to the defiant, dejected, and deeply enigmatic.
Lalah-Simone Springer (she/they) is a poet, creative health facilitator, musician, and speculative fiction writer (she/they). Lalah’s debut poetry collection, An Aviary of Common Birds (Broken Sleep Books), was released alongside their debut album Cyclical Music and long-listed for the Merky Books New Writers Prize. Collaborations as a performance artist have been staged at The Barbican, Whitechapel Gallery, the Southbank Centre and more.
Luke Thomas (they/them) is an actor, writer, poet and creative producer, dedicated to curating queer performance spaces. Having trained in Theatre & Performance at Goldsmiths, their work spans screen, stage, and event curation across London and Barcelona. Passionate about live storytelling, they are happiest creating platforms where grassroots art and community can thrive.
