Description

Why can connection feel natural in one environment and surprisingly difficult in another?

And why can two people experience exactly the same situation so differently?

In this 60 minute presentation, precision health and lifestyle coach Claire Akin Smith of Applied Movement explores how our biology, physiological state, learned beliefs and everyday behaviour interact to shape our experience of belonging.

We will look at how differences in stress response, reward, sensory processing and our need for connection can influence where we feel comfortable, how we relate to others and how we understand ourselves.

We will also explore how easily difference can become deficiency in the stories we tell ourselves, and how those beliefs can influence the behaviours that either support connection or keep us feeling on the outside.

What will we explore?

Some parts of who we are need greater understanding and acceptance. Other patterns have been learned and can be consciously changed.

During the session we will explore:

• Why the same environment can feel very different to different people
• How our current physiological state can change our capacity for connection
• How biological differences can become limiting beliefs about who we are
• The relationship between biology, beliefs and behaviour
• What may be useful to accept about yourself and what you genuinely have the capacity to change
• How understanding your own differences can also change the way you see other people

What will you leave with?

You will leave with a practical framework for understanding yourself with greater accuracy, recognising what helps you function at your best, and seeing both your own differences and those of others with greater curiosity and acceptance.

No prior knowledge of biology, psychology or Biological Design is required.
