The Blues Society: A Documentary by Augusta Palmer (75 mins)

Come join Piedmont Blues Preservation Society for a screening of this great documentary!

The Blues Society reevaluates the life of the Memphis Country Blues Festival through the lens of race, the counterculture of the ‘60s and the genre of Memphis blues,and includes interviews with a diverse cast of festival participants and commentators, including Dom Flemons, Zandria Robinson, Jamey Hatley, Jim Dickinson, Sid Selvidge, Nancy Jeffries, and the words of critic Robert Palmer as voiced by Eric Roberts. 

Rolling Stone writes, "The Blues Society explores the complex relationship between the fest's white organizers and the Black musicians who played it."

Other featured Blues-themed Short Films will also be shown during this special film experience. Movie-style concessions will be available during the film screening!
