The Brolga Book Sales
Event description
The Young Artist Program is a Co-Curricular for Years 7-12 which allows students to learn about the arts industry and participate in projects as emerging artists. The program explores a variety of mediums and art styles lead by a local Canberra artist. The Young Artist Program focuses on student confidence, community engagement and the fostering of creative skills.
Alec Danu Thomson is a proud Wulgurukaba artist from North Queensland, a published comic book artist, and the lead artist for the Young Artist Program (YAP) and The Brolga comic book project. Passionate about storytelling and visual art, Alec brings cultural stories to life through the accessible and dynamic medium of comics. With a deep connection to their heritage, they believe that storytelling and art are vital aspects of cultural identity, and they are dedicated to sharing Indigenous stories in ways that engage and inspire audiences of all ages. Through their work, Alec hopes to foster a greater appreciation for First Nations culture and the power of visual storytelling.
Purchasing a copy of The Brolga shows your support for the young artists in our community and all proceeds from the sale will be donated to The Indigenous Literacy Foundation by Canberra Grammar School.
