Event description

The Antipoverty Centre and Renew Australia for All are hosting an online briefing event for people in poverty and our supporters on Tuesday 1 April (3pm AEST / 4pm AEDT / 3:30pm ACDT / 1pm AWST).

We will share highlights from the Antipoverty Centre's recent report on energy debt, discuss how climate change harms people in poverty and what the climate movement needs to do to ensure we are not left behind in the renewable energy transition.

We encourage unionists, community sector workers and anyone with an interest in economic justice or climate action to join us. This event is free for all to attend.

    ABOUT US

The Antipoverty Centre exists to counter problems with academics, think tanks, charities, bureaucrats and others in the political class making harmful decisions on behalf of people they purport to represent. We are a collective of activists, advocates and researchers with direct, contemporary experience of poverty and unemployment. We have deep expertise in poverty because we live it. Our goal is to help ensure the voices and rights of people on the lowest incomes are at the centre of social policy development and discourse. We are part of the Renew Australia for All alliance.

Renew Australia for All is a new movement of allied organisations working together to deliver a fairer, better and more secure future for all Australians. We are driven by our vision of a better future for Australia. A vision of a future where no Australian household, family, worker or community is left behind. Where all our homes and communities – no matter where we live, or what we earn – have access to affordable, clean, renewable energy, cutting household energy bills now, and for good.
