The Clitoral Chronicles

This National Science Week, we’re lifting the hood on the most neglected organ in biology: the clitoris! Join us for a live show that’s equal parts hilarious and enlightening. Through immersive performances, outrageous anatomical costumes, and wild but true tales from the animal kingdom, you'll learn what you should have learned in sex-ed, including what the clitoris actually looks likes, where it came from, and why is important. By looking to science and the world around us, we will celebrate and empower perspectives that have historically been dismissed and literally written out of scientific discourse. Come for the laughs, leave informed and inspired, and ready to challenge tired old myths!

Your event hosts:

• Dr Alex Paton is a conservation biologist and science communicator with a passion for weird and wonderful wildlife.

• Dr Tiana Pirtle is a reproductive ecologist and science communicator who’s studied animals around the world — from giraffes to brumbies — and now delights in sharing the fascinating, under-appreciated world of animal vaginas.

• Zoe Kean is an award-winning science writer and communicator with a passion for evolution, ecology, and the environment, whose work spans print, radio, TikTok, and stages across the country.

• Geneviéve Butler is a queer bilingual performance artist exploring social masks through Bouffon, Drag, Circus, and physical comedy. As a multidisciplinary artist—actor, clown, director, dancer, puppeteer, and mask maker—she has toured festivals across Australia and performed internationally.

• Ty Fitzsimons is a performer who lives in Tasmania, he enjoys performing and living in Tasmania.

• Costumes by: Dr Haley Viehman is a marine scientist with a special interest in renewable energy and sustainable development. She loves exploring the intersection of art and science, and when she isn’t analysing sonar data she’s often creating—whether it’s painting, costuming, or some other artistic pursuit.
